Many people are using their bank debit cards to get money out of cash machines in foreign countries there is a small handling fee but the convenience of this is quite useful. The card should have the Maestro and Cirrus logos on it to be useable abroad together with your pin number. It is worthwhile having a photostat of your passport with you in case the original is lost or stolen. This can help speed up any measures needed to get you back home at the end of your holiday.
